PRESS RELEASE-ULAA Congratulates Liberians in Washington DC on Election Victory

Washington DCNovember 28, 2022 -The Union of Liberian Associations in the Americas (ULAA) congratulates Madam Welma Mashinini Redd, President-elect of the Liberian Community Association of Washington DC (LAC-DC). Madam Redd and Mr. John Pearson were elected Saturday, November  26, 2022, in a fierce re-election contest spanning the state for weeks. Madam Redd tenure will now expire in 2024.

In a telephone conversation Saturday, November 26, 2022, ULAA National President Hon. Shiwoh Kamara said madam Redd re-election demonstrates voters’ confidence and the excellent leadership services she provided over the last two years. The ULAA boss wished the new leadership well and challenged Madam Redd and others to use their win to unite the community and bring much-needed development. 

He also pledged ULAA’s support and looks forward to a sustained leadership agenda driven by the pillars of corporation, peaceful co-existence, and inclusiveness of all community members. He thanked Liberians and registered voters for demonstrating respect for the rule of law and the conduct of free, inclusive, and fair elections. 

Saturday’s election saw nearly 400 Liberians voting with a population of over 10,000 Liberians residing in the Washington DC area. The Liberian Community Association of Washington DC (LAC-DC) was established in 1978 and remains a vibrant chapter member of ULAA. ULAA was represented by its National Financial Secretary, Hon. Alexander Arku Bazzie, who served as election observer and described the election as free, fair, inclusive and transparent.
