ULAA Spotlight – Featuring Mrs. Mafanta Kromah Jabateh

Mafanta Kromah Jabateh is a Liberian journalist and women/ child rights advocate. 

She is one of the founders of Voice Against Violence (VAV), an organization dedicated to fighting all forms of violence against women and children.

Mafanta career began when she came top of her class at the Peter Quaqua School of Journalism in 2016.

Mafanta interned at the Inprofile Daily Newspaper where she performed exceptionally and grew up to a news reporter. 

In 2018, she became a recipient of the National Youth Moment for Transparent Election (NAYMOTE) for. Outstanding Youth Awards.

As an alumna of the Young Political Leadership School (YPLS), Mafanta volunteered for the Youth Movement for Transparent Election in 2017.

Currently , she is a student at the University of Liberia reading Mass Communication.

Earlier, she worked at the Bush Chicken Newspaper as a Women’s Right Reporter, reporting stories on Gender Equality, Education for Children, Domestic Violence, among others. 

Moreover, Mafanta has taken an initiative along with her organization (VAV) to write and advocate against child/ forced marriage.

In February 2021, she won Press Union of Liberia Distinguished Awards for Women’s Rights Reporter of the Year.
